About

John is an artist and educator working in 19th century/alternative photographic processes with a particular focus on gum bichromate and wet plate collodion. Based in Manchester, UK, his interest in photography began in the mid 1970s. Inspired by the work of the French pictorialist and gum printer Robert Demachy, John has dedicated the past 30+ years to working exclusively in alternative photographic techniques. In addition to offering private workshops, he is frequently invited to lecture at universities across the country. John has exhibited his work both nationally & internationally, has work published in several magazines & books and has worked in TV & film.
